Dolphins!
We saw a pod swimming past on a high tide in the morning on Monday 4th November, with an excited bunch of kids in eights following them up river. We hoped to catch up or see them as they returned, but no luck this time.

Bennett Shield Regatta at Lake Pupuke Sat 23 Nov
Masters please advise Raechel if you want to attend/row. Seat fee $4.50 to the organisers. Check first with crew members if you're intending to specify crews please. There seems to be lots of events for Masters. The beauty of this one is that the boats are already over there...

The talk at the Masters breakfast yesterday was that the Head of the Yarra crews will not race at the Sunday regatta, but instead will try to get hold of 2 eights so they can train on the Tamaki together instead.

Tamaki Rowing Photography Competition
All keen photographers are encouraged to get on the river and enter our competition. Entries close 6 October, NEW CLOSING DATE 13 October and cost $10.
Please send large files (2 - 4 mg) to Christine at 158ideas@gmail.com. The photos will be put on display at the Club for people's vote (cost $1 per vote) and then the 12 best printed for an exhibition at the Masters Christmas Party. This is on 7 December.
We'll have a judge to choose the winner, and with those 12 we can also produce a calendar for 2014.
Should be a good way to raise some funds for masters rowing.
Thanks in advance for your support.

So the school rowers are back, really nice to see GDC novices getting a proper induction of safety and around the shed.
Two sessions per weekend now for Masters:
Two sessions per weekend now for Masters:
- Nominate early, late or either/or - this will stay the same for the month.
- Early session 6.40am - SESSION 1: Arrive at club 6:40am, on water at 7:00am - applies to masters
training for events - SESSION 2: Arrive at club 8:10am, on water at 8:30am (very civilised....) - applies if you are not in an event
- Training crews have priority for coaching
- Training crews can book double session
- First come first served
- Limit 25 maximum per session
EXCEPTION this weekend 8 Sept, being the last &km race
Both sessions half hour earlier, so the boats are back from the first session in time for 7km race
Therefore FIRST SESSION 6.10 am for on-water at 6.40, then SECOND SESSION 7.40 am for 8.10 am (race starts 8.30 am).
Bringing your own boat may be an option....
