Legion Hamilton April 2011

Stunning weather and plenty of racing for all. No missed races (a plus, after so many late to the start at the Blue Lake...) and a good smattering of medals. Eliza's help was greatly appreciated, and we all loved meeting Peggy, Yvonne's grand daughter.

29 April Wedding do

Come and have a ball at theClub rooms when we watch and celebrate the Royal wedding
This evening is for Masters and other adults.. Bring your own drinks and come as a member of the Royal wedding party. Corgis acceptable.

Calendar: Up and coming in March and April

1    Be around the club rooms 6pm Friday 18 March 2011 to share an hour with Hannah Sweetman while she tells us about the importance of nutrition. Bring your questions along too.

$5 per head please, so we can pay Hannah for her time. Schools welcome.

2     Phil and Denyse (that's him above, in the cap...) Clough leave very soon for a sabbatical around Europe for 12 months. If you want to see Phil off (or get a chance to hide in his suitcase) we’ll be having a do soon… date to be confirmed.

3    North Island Champs on 13 March and MAADI on 27 March. Masters please be aware that training (and therefore angst) intensifies for schools now. Just let them have priority and everything will be sweet.

Maintenance of Club boats

There’s a drive on at present to get all boats through a once-over: we need to identify issues and get each boat in turn at least cleaned and sprayed and thoroughly tightened. We’re trying to get just enough people along each session rather than everyone. There is a roster, but we’ll just be carrying out work relevant to the number of people present. If you can’t make a rostered session, that’s okay. However be aware that we’ll need everyone at least once a month for a while. At the very least you will learn something new about the boats. And if you know things that others don’t it‘s a good opportunity to share it.

Thanks to the 8 people who came along today. Two boats down – 10 to go!

Photo has nothing to do with text - but Margaret loved her hat and apron when we had a burger cook-off at Blue Lake regatta

Blue Lake Regatta Masters

A good time was had by all - mainly. A few missing pieces of equipment and a few collisions but nothing life-threatening. The weather came right on Sunday which made for a happier team.
